Short version: everything you log in Midlog is stored on your device. We don't run servers that receive it, we don't have accounts, and we don't use analytics, advertising or tracking. If the app crashes, a crash report is sent so we can fix the bug; it contains no health data.

What Midlog stores

Symptoms, hot flash and night sweat entries, daily notes, cycle entries, treatments and doses, doctor visits, and your settings (such as age range and reminder times). This is saved in the app's storage on your device. A small summary for the home screen widget (today's counts and your logging streak) is saved in storage shared only with Midlog's own widget.

Midlog does not sync to iCloud or any other cloud service. Your data is included in your device's own encrypted backups if you have them turned on, under Apple's control and settings.

Apple Health

If you allow it, Midlog reads sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, steps and weight from Apple Health so you can see them next to your symptoms. If you also allow writing, Midlog saves the hot flashes and night sweats you log (with their severity) and, on iOS 27 and later, the menopause stage you chose in your profile, to Apple Health. Deleting an episode in Midlog removes its copy from Health. Health data is used only to show you charts and reports on your device. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never sent to us or anyone else. You can turn this off at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.

Face ID and passcode lock

If you turn on App Lock, iOS handles Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. Midlog only receives a yes or no answer and never sees biometric data.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification content passes through our servers.

Siri, Shortcuts and widgets

When you log with Siri or Shortcuts, the entry is saved on your device in the same way as logging in the app. Apple's handling of voice requests is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

So that Siri and Spotlight can find them, your daily notes and treatment names are added to your device's own search index. This index stays on your device. It is switched off and emptied whenever the Face ID lock is on, and you can switch it off in Settings at any time.

Apple Intelligence

The weekly summary, suggested questions for your doctor and label scanning use Apple's on-device model and on-device text recognition. Photos you scan are read on your device and are not saved by Midlog.

If your device can't run the on-device model, you can choose to let Private Cloud Compute write the weekly summary instead. This is off unless you turn it on in Settings. The request (your counts, top symptoms, treatment names and recent notes) is processed by Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers, which Apple designed so that the data is used only for that request, is not stored and is not accessible to Apple. It never reaches us.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We don't receive your name, email or payment details. The app checks your purchase status with Apple on your device.

Exports and reports

PDF reports and CSV exports are created on your device. They leave it only if you choose to share them, for example by email or AirDrop to your doctor.

Deleting your data

In Midlog, go to Settings and choose Delete All Data. Deleting the app also removes its data from your device. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

Crash reports

If Midlog crashes, a crash report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, the next time you open the app. It contains the technical state of the app at the moment of the crash (which code was running, device model, iOS version, app version, free memory and disk) and a random install identifier. It never contains your symptoms, notes, treatments, Health data or anything else you log, and it is not linked to your identity or used for advertising. We use it only to find and fix bugs. Google's handling is covered by the Firebase privacy and security terms.

Children

Midlog is not directed to children and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. If a future version ever sends data off your device, we will ask you first in the app.
